I'm Adam. I make trailers and cinematics for games.
Most of it happens in engine. Unreal mostly, Unity when the job calls for it. Lighting, cameras, blocking, all in the level, on the game's own assets. On bigger productions that runs from previs and mocap direction through to final polish.
Then I cut it. Trailers, cutscenes, social spots, and the motion graphics around them. And it goes out finished - graded, cleaned, mastered.
The trailers have premiered at The Game Awards, gamescom Opening Night Live, the PlayStation Showcase, a Nintendo Direct, the PC Gaming Show, the Future Games Show and E3, and have over 35 million views on YouTube between them. Recently that's Dune: Awakening for Funcom - the brief was feel like the films, but obviously a game you can live in. AfterWorld for Paradox, which opened at Gamescom Opening Night Live. Kaidan, Starship Troopers: Extermination, Mario + Rabbids for Ubisoft. And a fully CG trailer and opener for Gladiators, the BBC's Saturday-night one. Some of these I ran end to end, some I was one of a team. The lot is on the work page.
Before going freelance I was at Splash Damage for two years, Senior Cinematic Artist on Transformers: Reactivate. Before that Fire Without Smoke, Frontier on Planet Zoo and Elite Dangerous, and Automaton. First gig in the industry was freelance editing for PlayStation.
Separately from all that, I've been experimenting with AI. Mostly by making the tools I wished I'd had. StayPut was the first. Reparent an actor in Sequencer and every transform key moves with it, so the actor ends up somewhere else. StayPut recalculates the keys and it stays exactly where it was. Then QuickAdd, because adding ten tracks meant opening the same menu ten times. Then GraphDeck, TrackDeck and ReviewDeck. Six now, all on the tools page. The idea behind all of them is the same - make artists' lives easier so they can get on with the creating.
Home is Bedford: wife, two kids and a little dog. Away from the desk it's 3D printing, DIY projects that take longer than planned, and playing with the kids. And games, obviously. Favourite's God of War.
Got a game and a date? Email me. I'm usually booked a few weeks out, so sooner is better.
